Software Quality Assurance Testing-Our Process

We have an effective Testing Life Cycle that enables us to provide efficient solutions. The process can be integrated as part of SDLC or as a separate independent service.

The total Testing process can be summarized as follows:

Requirement Specification

This is the initial phase and involves following steps

Complete understanding of the project which is taken by the testing lead from the project manager or project leads.

Test Plan preparation and reviews. Test Plan cover following details

	List of modules that need to be tested
	Features to be tested along with Risks defined
	Types of Testing to be performed e.g. unit, integration, regression and / or acceptance

Resource Allocation & Testing Schedule Preparation

Design/Build System Test

Based on Testing Process to be performed respective Test cases are prepared. SRS and Functional Documents are referred for preparing Test Cases. Test Data is also collected in case of specific requirement. Test cases are developed in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Also Test cases are developed using Rational Test Manager.

A proper testing environment is created by Building hardware, software and data set-ups.

Testing Execution

Manual and automated software testing is done at Cygnet. Various types of testing that are performed are

	integration
	Performance
	System
	User Acceptance
	Installation

Automated testing tools such as QTP, Win runner, Load runner, Sleuth, Microsoft Team Suite are used to perform testing.

Bug Reporting

Bug Tracking tools such as Mantis, Bugzilla and Rational Clear Quest are used to keep track of bugs. Test Logs are prepared. The bugs that are reported are retested and closed after they are solved.

Status Report

Testing Status is sent to the Project Leader and Project Manager once Test Cycle is completed. After completion of Final Round of Testing, Final report is generated and same is sent to Project Leader and Project Manager. Report of Bugs is sent to SEPG head for analysis.
